At Patients Medical our specialty is fatigue. Many people come to see us for unexplained fatigue.
In order to properly understand the causes of fatigue one has to look deeper than routine blood tests, one has to evaluate how well cells and organs are FUNCTIONING. We need to look deep into the cells metabolism, we need to see how well cells are producing energy, is there a deficiency that is blocking the flow of energy, is there a build up of free radicals-we need to look beneath the tip of the iceberg. This is exactly what we do at Patients Medical. We use tests that can evaluate the state of function of cells and organs.
Convential medicine understands the body in one of two ways - either you are sick or you are healthy.
Holistic medicine understands that there are various levels of function. If one puts a cell in an environment of free radicals and toxic molecules, the cell will begin to produce different molecules. Different genes will be turned on and off. It will start to produce inflammatory molecules. It will become less efficient in its ability to produce energy. The cell will begin to look totally different, than the same cell in a healthy environment.
If you complain of fatigue, the tests we will do may include the following:
1 The TRH stimulation test is the more sensitive thyroid test that can finally pick up the low thyroid missed by routine tests.
2 Evaluate adrenal function with an ACTH stimulation test. The adrenal gland produces many hormones responsible fro energy production, hormones that enable us to respond to stress, hormones that regulate our immune system. Routine tests can not detect how well the adrenal gland is functioning. The ACTH test can.
3 We test for heavy metals. This is also looking beneath the tip of the iceberg. Industrial pollution is behind our backs wreaking havoc on our health. It is the major cause of neurological diseases like dementia, Parkinson’s disease, thyroid disease, other hormonal diseases. And yet the medical community is looking for the cure. We have the cure-it is removing the toxins, and assisting the cells to heal and produce energy.
4 We evaluate for high levels of insulin. More people than ever before suffer from hyperinsulinemia or metabolic syndrome. Even before one develops high glucose levels ones insulin levels begins to rise in its attempt to keep the sugars normal. A high insulin level comes with a price. It causes weight gain poor energy production, free radical build up and FATIGUE.
