Ayman Matta, MD, FACS
Ayman Matta, M.D., F.A.C.S. is a Medical and Surgical Ophthalmologist with an interest in integrative, functional, regenerative and anti-aging medicine. Dr. Matta is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He specializes in Cataract Surgery, Macular Degeneration, Refractive Surgery with Premium Interocular Lenses, Glaucoma, Corneal Transplants, Medical and Laser Retina Surgery including LASIK, LASEK, PRK, PTK , AK , and Lens Exchange Therapy.
Dr. Matta's interest in Holistic Ophthalmology and Regenerative, Anti-Aging Medicine started early in his career. He believes that the key to perfect vision is total health optimization for the entire body, and that perfect vision changes ones outlook on life. Using various techniques from natural supplements to advanced microsurgical techniques and Stem Cell Transplantation, many of the defects in vision can be reversed or improved significantly.
As leader of the ophthalmology practice for our current clinical research study utilizing stem cells for a variety of conditions, Dr. Matta's primary focus is macular degeneration and retina issues, as well as different forms of glaucoma and neuropathy.
Dr. Matta completed medical school and his internship at Ain Shams University School of Medicine, then completed his residency at Albert Einstein College of Medicine at the Catholic Medical Center of Brooklyn and Queens and the State University of New York, Stony Brook at the Nassau University Medical Center. He then went on to complete a fellowship in Anterior Segment and Cornea and Refraction at the Bucci Cataract and Laser Vision Institute in Pennsylvania.
Certified in GLORY LASIK by the International Society of Refractive Surgery, C-LASIK by Bausch & Lomb, Dr Matta also holds certification in the VISX Excimer Laser System, and is trained in several micro-keratomes.
Dr. Matta is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Medical Association, the American College of Surgeons, the American College of Physicians, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, The International Society of Cosmetic Laser Surgeons, the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology, the New York Ophthalmological Society and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
Dr Matta has obtained certification in Advanced Age-Management Medicine, Health Optimization and Weight Management. He is also board certified by the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine (A4M), distinguishing him as a Holistic Ophthalmologist. He is also a Fellow of the American Academy of Anti-Aging/Regenerative and Functional Medicine with an interest in treating various conditions including obesity, low energy levels, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Fibromyalgia, Gut Dysbiosis, and various digestive and auto-immune disorders.
Dr. Matta is currently the Director of Ophthalmology at Rockland and Bergen Surgery Center and on staff at Nyack Hospital, Good Samaritan Hospital, St. Mary's Eye and Surgery Center and Hackensack University Medical Center.
