L. Deanna Howard, MD
L. Deanna Howard, MD is a leader and integral member of our gynecology team at Patients Medical. She has been practicing since 1996 as a board certified gynecologist, working to bridge the gap between natural and conventional gynecology with a passion for using natural modalities in her clinical care.
Dr. Howard obtained a bachelor's degree in biology from NYU and a medical degree from UMDNJ-New Jersey Medical School. She continued her education beyond traditional medical training with studies in meditation, aromatherapy, Reiki and Chi Gong. Completing studies at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition and the Teacher’s College at Columbia University, she was certified as a Health Counselor. She also completed the Clinical Homeopathy training course with the Center for Education and Development of Clinical Homeopathy.
Dr. Howard has practiced in New York and New Jersey for over 15 years and has hospital privileges at Beth Israel in Newark. She is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.
Office procedures performed by Dr. Howard include pap smear tests, endometrial biopsy, colposcopy, vulvar biopsy, skin tag removal, IUD insertion and removal as well as many more. Conditions treated include PMS, PMDD, menopause/peri-menopause, HPV, fibroids, Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome, as well as secondary conditions that affect feminine health such as obesity, acne, poor digestion and gastro-intestinal issues, low immune system function and many other conditions.
In her holistic gynecology practice, Dr. Howard provides her patients with a system to gain control of chronic conditions, including healing food and lifestyle recommendations as a central part of each treatment plan. She routinely works with patients to help gynecological issues, but also challenges women to have an open mind and explore healing themselves by taking responsibility to make changes in their lives to benefit their overall health.
Dr. Howard is a participating provider for Empire Blue Cross Blue Shield (this includes Anthem). She is an "out-of-network" doctor for all other insurances. Our billing staff is happy to help you with the necessary documentation that will enable you to submit your office visit expenses for reimbursement for those who have "out-of-network" coverage on their medical insurance plan.
