Nilfar Karimova, MD
Nilfar Karimova, MD, is a rare breed of physician. She is trained in the ancient Indian approach to medicine, known as Ayurveda, and has an MD in internal medicine. Dr. Karimova completed her internships in surgery and internal medicine at Nassau University Medical Center located in East Meadow, NY. She completed her internal medicine residency there as well. Dr. Karimova has also trained as a holistic physician with the American College for Advancement in Medicine.
During her medical school years, Dr. Karimova opened an integrative holistic center at the Kazakh State Medical Institute, where she worked as a director and consult from 1993 to 1998. Dr. Karimova advanced her training in integrative medicine and Ayurveda by attending postgraduate courses in New Delhi, India; Vlodrop, Holland; Albuquerque, New Mexico; and Fairfield, Iowa. Dr. Karimova also received an MS degree in physiology and Ayurveda from Maharishi University in Fairfield, IA.
Prior to joining Patients Medical, Dr. Karimova spent five years as director of health education at The Raj Medical Center in Fairfield, Iowa, providing medical and Ayurveda health consultations and treatments.
Dr. Karimova’s areas of expertise include various medical treatments and prevention therapies for management of a broad spectrum of illnesses including hormonal imbalances, menopause, gastro-intestinal problems, and psychosomatic issues.
Dr. Karimova has a caring, individualized approach that encompasses all aspects of her patients’ lives. During your consultation she will work with you to explore the mind-body connection with your symptoms and develop practical behaviors that will set you on a course of healing.
