Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) is a form of cognitive-behavioral therapy that takes into consideration the way a patient thinks (neuro), speaks (linguistic) and acts (programming) in the world. Every experience you have from birth through the present affects all three of these aspects as you move through your life, making decisions, interacting with other people, and taking action - or not. In some cases, negative or unhealthy experiences can be stored in our minds and bodies, unconsciously driving us to believe, speak, and act in ways that are not necessarily effective or empowering.
For example: Have you ever heard yourself make a statement that doesn't feel like you? Perhaps you even recognized, "I sounded just like my mother!" This is one example of how life experiences can formulate your speech, even if it doesn't correlate with how you truly feel.
Patients Medical is proud to have Jeffrey Vincent Noble on our staff. Mr. Noble uses Neuro-Linguistic Programming to help patients experience breakthroughs in their personal and/or professional lives, by reprogramming their mind and bodies to interpret their life experiences in a more balanced, healthy, and powerful way.
What is NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming)?
The idea of NLP is founded on two fundamental principles:
Perception is reality. Therefore, you can never objectively know what is truly real. Your reality is based purely on your perceptions, and how you interpret or react to those perceptions. These interpretations and reactions create your life map. Positive perceptions will create a positive journey - negative perceptions will create a more negative journey. NLP can help you understand how your life map has been created, and allows you to re-chart your journey via a route that is more easily, and soulfully, navigated.
Life experience is based on a series of systems. Our minds, bodies, society, and the universe are all constructed of systems. These systems react with one another to form an experience. Ultimately, all systems seek balance. If your mind or body system is out of balance, it will be impossible for you to chart a life map in which all of the miraculous possibilities are visible.
Our five senses, sight, sound, taste, smell, and touch, create our memories. This is why a certain sensory experience can illicit powerful memories, both positive and negative, from our past. Negative experiences hold a wealth of wisdom and power because it is these memories that cause us to shut down, blocking our life potential.
Neuro-Linguistic programming can help clients:
Take control over negative emotions or psychological states that are preventing you from making significant breakthroughs in your life.
Overcome deep-seated fears and phobias.
Replace negative patterned behaviors with positive ones.
Develop a deep understanding of your needs, motivations, and desires.
Become more aware of your impact on others, enhancing your interpersonal relationships at home and at work.
How does NLP work?
NLP works to reprogram your memories, providing a new way to replay old patterns. This is not to be confused with erasing, or blocking old memories. Instead, NLP works re-represent the memories of these sensory perceptions in your mind so you can objectively see the situation with a fresh perspective. This allows clients to journey through some of their most formative memories and experiences, with the ability to see a plethora of outcomes and possibilities, and choose a new course of action or reaction.
The ability to go into our memory bank and see the experiences that shaped us with a new perspective provides healing and wisdom, which is the ability to see multiple perspectives at once.
