Brow Lift

Brow Lift

Frown lines and forehead wrinkles become more permanent as we age. As natural collagen production slows down, skin elasticity fades, preventing the skin on the forehead from returning to its smooth, natural position. A brow lift surgery, or forehead lift, can be used to smooth these wrinkles and lines, removing decades from a person's countenance. Patients Medical offers a combination of cosmetic procedures, ranging from non-invasive Botox and dermal fillers, to brow lift surgeries and face lifts.

The benefits of cosmetic brow lift procedures include:

  • Eliminating lines and creases that settle vertically between the brows
  • Smoothing horizontal creases and lines located between the hairline and eyebrows
  • Lifting the forehead line, which can begin to create a hooded appearance, especially around the upper eyelids
  • Elevating the eyebrows to provide a more alert and youthful appearance

In many cases, our clients use brow lift procedures in conjunction with other anti-aging treatments such as a face lift, eyelid surgery, and/or a neck lift.

Who is a good candidate for a brow lift?

In order to achieve the best results from the procedure, and to minimize the risk of complications during and after surgery, we recommend that patients are in good health, are non-smokers, and have a positive and realistic goal regarding the results of the procedure. It's important that patients seek cosmetic procedures for their own benefit, and not to meet someone else's expectations.

What is involved during a brow lift surgery?

The first step in a brow lift procedure is meeting face-to-face with the surgeon during free consultation. During the consultation, patients can ask questions and learn about a variety of procedures, which can be used separately or in combination with one another, in order to achieve the desired results. Facial measurements and photographs will be taken to prepare for the procedure. The surgeon will review the patient's medical history, discuss current lifestyle habits, and make recommendations regarding pre- and post-operative treatments or changes that improve the outcome.

In some cases, patients may need to abstain from certain medications, vitamins, and/or herbal supplements that can affect the surgical procedures and healing time. Smokers are asked to refrain from smoking for at least two weeks prior to surgery as it can increase the chances of surgical complications and can negatively impact the healing process.

There are two basic types of brow lift, or forehead lift, procedures:

Classic brow lift. During this procedure, the surgeon will make an incision along the hairline or the crown of the head from ear to ear. He will then manipulate the skin to lift it, remove excess skin, and reposition it as naturally as possible to remove wrinkles and frown lines. He may also do some work around the brow area. Once the brow lift is complete, he will use stitches, staples, special clips/screws, and/or skin adhesives to close the incisions.

Endoscopic lift. In some cases, the doctor will be able to endoscopic procedures that require smaller incisions around the hair line. A specialized camera is used to access the tissue underneath in order to lift and reposition it. These incisions will be closed using stitches, staples, and/or skin adhesives.

Botox and dermal fillers. These can sometimes substitute for a brow lift, or can be used to augment brow lift surgery for a smoother finish.

Recover and Healing After Your Brow Lift

Patients need to be driven home from the procedure and can expect to take a week or two off from work. Bruising and swelling should subside considerably within the first week. Pre and post-operative treatments can help facilitate the healing process, including:
