What is the main cause of Endometriosis?

The exact cause of endometriosis is not fully understood, but there are several theories. One theory is that the endometrial tissue can migrate through the fallopian tubes and implant itself in other areas of the pelvic region. Another theory is that there is a genetic predisposition to the condition. There are also some studies that suggest that the immune system may play a role in the development of endometriosis.

Other potential causes or risk factors for endometriosis include:

  • Retrograde menstruation, in which menstrual blood flows back through the fallopian tubes and into the pelvic cavity instead of out of the body.
  • Hormonal imbalances, such as elevated levels of estrogen, can contribute to the growth of endometrial tissue.
  • Environmental toxins and pollutants have been suspected to have a link with endometriosis.

However, it's worth noting that many women with endometriosis may not have any known risk factors or underlying causes.
