What causes Yeast Infection?

Yeast infections are caused by an overgrowth of the fungus Candida. Candida is naturally present in the body, but certain factors can cause it to overgrow, leading to an infection. Some common causes of yeast infections include:

  • Antibiotics, which can disrupt the balance of bacteria in the body.
  • Hormonal changes, such as those that occur during pregnancy or menstruation.
  • A weakened immune system
  • Diabetes
  • Uncontrolled stress
  • Poor diet or other lifestyle choices that can affect the body's natural balance.

Also, it is more common in women than men, but anyone can get a yeast infection. The yeast can also infect the skin, mouth, throat, and other areas of the body.
