What is Sjogren’s Syndrome?

Sjogren's syndrome is a chronic autoimmune disorder in which the immune system attacks and damages the glands that produce tears and saliva. This leads to dryness in the mouth and eyes, as well as other symptoms such as fatigue, joint pain, and skin rashes. It is more commonly found in women and often occurs in conjunction with other autoimmune disorders such as rheumatoid arthritis or lupus. There is no cure for Sjogren's syndrome, but treatment options include medications to reduce inflammation and improve symptoms.
