Weight Reduction Program

Weight Reduction Program

Weight loss refers to a reduction in body weight due to loss of fluid, body fat, or lean mass. It can be achieved through a combination of diet and physical activity, or in some cases, medication, or weight loss surgery.

It is important to note that sustained weight loss requires long-term lifestyle changes, including healthy eating habits and regular exercise. Consulting with a healthcare provider is recommended before starting a weight loss program.

Weight loss pills

Weight loss oral pills are a type of dietary supplement that can help to reduce body weight. Some weight loss pills work by suppressing appetite, while others increase metabolism or block the absorption of fats or carbohydrates. You may see many advertisements on TV for these weight loss pills, many with dubious claims.

It's important to note that not all weight loss pills are effective or safe, and many of these products can have potential side effects. Additionally, most weight loss pills are not approved by regulatory agencies such as the FDA, so their safety and efficacy may not have been adequately tested.
We recommend you do your research on these products and take them with caution. We do not offer them to our patients, nor do we endorse using them.

Weight Reduction Programs we offer:

We offer two types of weight loss programs:

  • Medication Based: using the latest FDA approved oral and injectable medication available for rapid weight loss.

First program we offer:

Weight loss medication and injectables for rapid weight loss.

Weight loss medication and injectables are prescription treatments that can help with rapid weight loss. These medications are FDA approved and work by reducing appetite, increasing metabolism, or blocking the absorption of fats or carbohydrates. Some commonly prescribed weight loss medications include:

  • Orlistat (Xenical)
  • Liraglutide (Saxenda)
  • Phentermine-topiramate (Qsymia)
  • Naltrexone-bupropion (Contrive)

Injectables for weight loss, such as liraglutide, work by suppressing appetite and reducing calorie intake.
It is important to note that weight loss medication and injectables are only recommended for individuals with a body mass index (BMI) of 30 or higher, or for those with a BMI of 27 or higher who also have weight-related health problems such as high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, or high cholesterol.
Weight loss medication and injectables should only be taken under the supervision of a healthcare provider and should not be used as a substitute for healthy lifestyle changes, such as a balanced diet and regular physical activity. Additionally, these medications can have potential side effects and may interact with other medications, so it's important to be fully informed of the risks and benefits before starting treatment.

Wegovy side effects for weight loss?

Wegovy (Semaglutide) is a medication that has been shown to cause weight loss as a side effect. However, like all medications, it can also cause side effects. Some common side effects of Wegovy include:

  • Nausea
  • Diarrhea
  • Constipation
  • Abdominal pain
  • Vomiting

It is important to keep in mind that everyone reacts differently to medications, and not everyone will experience side effects. If you experience any severe or persistent side effects, you should talk to your doctor right away.

How soon can I lose ten pounds with Wegovy?

Regarding weight loss, it's difficult to predict exactly how much weight a person will lose with Wegovy, as this will vary depending on the individual. However, some people have reported losing 10 pounds or more within the first few months of taking the medication. It's important to remember that weight loss should be viewed as a gradual process, and it's not recommended to expect rapid or substantial weight loss. Additionally, weight loss with Wegovy should be part of a comprehensive weight management plan that includes a healthy diet and regular physical activity.

How does Wegovy cause weight loss?

Wegovy (Semaglutide) causes weight loss by increasing the level of GLP-1, a hormone that regulates glucose and appetite, in the body. GLP-1 acts on the brain to reduce hunger and increase feelings of fullness, which can lead to decreased food intake and weight loss. Additionally, Wegovy helps to improve glucose control, which can also contribute to weight loss. However, it is important to note that weight loss with Wegovy should be part of a comprehensive weight management plan that includes a healthy diet and regular physical activity.

Second Program we offer:

Patient Medical’s Customized Weight Management Program

Achieving long-term weight loss has proven to be an insurmountable challenge for most people. Studies show that while some people can achieve short-term weight loss by combining restrictive calorie intake with exercise, a significant majority gain their weight back within two years or less. Most have not made any changes to their eating habits, lifestyle or how they think about food, so they revert to old habits as soon as they “finish” their “diet.”

We believe that a diet is not something you go “on and off” but instead is a part of your lifestyle, including not only what you eat but also your behaviors and thoughts around food. This comprehensive approach is what distinguishes our program. It not only helps to clear up the confusion around overwhelming and conflicting nutritional information but also equips you with the support, tools, and techniques you need to achieve permanent weight loss. We focus on eating healthfully and making lifestyle and mindset changes to reach and support ideal weight and health long term.

Patients Medical’s Program Centers on:

  • Assessment - Understand and define health concerns, the first key step to customizing your unique strategy and plan for success. This phase will include documenting your baseline weight, waist /hip ratio and goals. We also offer an optional Bioimpedance Analysis. Patients also have the option to choose a complete medical assessment to complement their program. This exam would include physical, complete blood work, identification of metabolic problems, Glucose Tolerance Testing, Lipid Profile, electrocardiogram (EKG), and bone density to assess any weight related conditions and co-morbidities. Such information can serve to solidify the key role of weight management in disease prevention, lifelong health and serve as additional motivation.
  • Education - Learn what types of food works best to achieve your weight loss goals and why. In this phase the Nutritionist would also address how nutrition and/or exercise can address any co-morbidity, if identified and applicable.
  • Relevant lifestyle changes - Develop habits that will sustain long term results. With individual support you can make progressive reasonable steps to secure habits that will insure lasting results. Understanding and making these behavioral changes are a key element of permanent weight loss.
  • Thought processes - Learn how to change your thinking about food. Understand how to identify and address your sabotaging thoughts about nutrition and lifestyle. Your mind is one of your most powerful tools and is an integral part of reaching and maintaining your goals. If you do not change how you think about food, you run the risk of lapsing back to old patterns. This key element is missing in most conventional plans.
  • Practical application - Understand how to consistently incorporate these foods into your life, no matter how busy or stressful it may be.
  • Maintenance -Work with your coach to define your acceptable weight range and create a follow up plan to ensure your results are sustained.

B. Our State-of-the-Art Testing

  •  What makes our program unique is that our facility is equipped to provide detailed blood and urine testing. Testing can include a complete hormonal panel, metabolic profile, and glucose tolerance to identify root causes and help focus the plan of action to get you results that have been so difficult in the past.
  • Most weight loss programs do not offer such testing as they are not administered by a medical practice or managed by nutrition professional. As a result participants are unsuccessful in achieving their goals because of underlying health issues. If you have been on diets, Weight Watchers and other programs but they have not worked for you, please do not give up hope.
  • The good news is that once the testing is done and our physicians have addressed the underlying health issues, our nutritionist will work with you to develop your customized weight loss program which will encompass not only what food to eat to achieve a healthy weight, but what behaviors and thought processes will make your results lifelong. You owe yourself the gift of health and vitality!

Which option will give me long term rapid weight loss, Wegovy or the  diet-based program?

  • The effectiveness of weight loss programs depends on several factors, including your starting weight, diet, physical activity, and metabolism. While Wegovy (a prescription weight-loss medication) may lead to rapid weight loss in the short term, it is typically recommended as part of a comprehensive weight-loss program that includes a healthy diet and exercise. A diet-based program that emphasizes healthy eating habits, portion control, and physical activity can also lead to sustainable weight loss over the long term.
  • It is important to consult a doctor or a registered dietitian to determine the best weight-loss program for you based on your individual needs and health status. They may also be able to advise you on the safety and effectiveness of using weight-loss medications like Wegovy.

For many patients, we offer a combination of both programs.  Start with the injectables for Rapid Weight Loss. Then in parallel, a nutritional support program to help keep the weight off when you stop the medication.
