Maya Abdominal Therapy
Maya Abdominal Therapy is a form of abdominal massage that is based on techniques developed over centuries by Mayan people. This technique is non-invasive and an external form of manipulation that is geared toward the individual's health goals. During the treatment, a therapist repositions internal organs that are incorrectly positioned, due to trauma, surgery, pregnancy, injury or congenital malformation. Once the organs are optimally positioned, blood flow is restored, lymph is able to drain as needed, nerves can function fully and energy is freed up throughout the body.
This therapy can alleviate the following concerns and many more:
How can women benefit from Maya Abdominal Therapy?
In the quest to conceive a baby, some women experience challenges that may be due in part or wholly to incorrectly positioned ovaries and uterus. Normally, the uterus is held in position by ligaments and muscles, however these can weaken or loosen over time or from events such as pregnancy or surgery. This causes the uterus to fall or become tipped in a way that discourages conception and healthy implantation into the uterine wall.
Once pregnancy has been achieved, proper organ positioning is helpful for ease in fetal growth and delivery. For women who feel strongly about experiencing labor and delivery with minimal medical assistance, organ positioning minimizes the risk of needing an emergency caesarean section or other more invasive measures.
Tipped or incorrectly positioned uterus and other abdominal organs can also cause hormonal imbalance, indigestion, cramping and swelling. Toxins may not be flushed from the body in a timely manner due to urinary and bladder problems. This may be one factor in unexplained and unhealthy weight gain or excessive weight loss.
How can men benefit from Maya Abdominal Therapy?
Men can also benefit from Maya Abdominal Therapy techniques. Particularly with regard to prostate health, men who receive this treatment may notice a decrease in swelling or inflammation, increased blood flow, alleviation of varicose veins and impotency, as well as a decrease in premature ejaculation. Men who find they feel the need to urinate frequently may find relief.
What can I expect during a Maya Abdominal Therapy session?
During a session, your therapist will massage in a firm, deep yet gentle manner around specific areas of your abdomen. Depending on your overall health and wellness, your therapist may also treat your pelvic area and lower back. This will not be a painful experience, yet you may not feel deep relaxation as in a regular massage because the practitioner may be requesting your feedback and asking questions about sensations you are feeling during the session.
The typical treatment session lasts 90 minutes for the first session and subsequent sessions are 60 minutes each.
