Patients Medical was founded in 1974 by Dr. Robert Atkins — creator of the Atkins Diet — and Dr. Warren M. Levin, MD, a founding member of the American College for Advancement in Medicine (ACAM) and a pioneer of integrative and functional medicine in New York City.

Since 2004, the practice has been led by Dr. Rashmi Gulati, MD, a Board-Certified physician with over 30 years of experience specializing in Functional Medicine and reproductive endocrinology. Dr. Gulati has a particular focus on women over 40 facing fertility challenges — her oldest patient to successfully deliver a baby was 52 years old, with the birth at Mount Sinai Hospital in Manhattan, where Dr. Gulati holds full medical privileges.

In 2006, Dr. Satty Gill Keswani, MD joined the practice. Dr. Keswani is a Board-Certified Reproductive Endocrinologist, Holistic Gynecologist, and Infertility Specialist with over 30 years of experience. She has pioneered fertility techniques in artificial insemination since 1990 and has delivered over 1,000 babies. In March 2006 she received a Physician of the Year award from a major national physician organization.

Today Patients Medical provides in-person care at 1148 Fifth Avenue (at 96th Street), New York, NY 10128, with nationwide telehealth available. Dr. Stuart Weg, MD serves as the primary physician author for all non-mental-health content clusters.

In 2008, we established DGA, Inc., registered with New York State Tissue Bank Operations (Facility License #1570) and the Food and Drug Administration (FEI # 3021544308). In 2022 we received NYS Surrogacy Agency License GSP220903 — among the first agencies approved.

Additional licensing: California Tissue Bank License (CTP 00082276, 2021), Maryland Tissue Bank License (2022), and Canada Sperm & Ova Primary Establishment Registration # 000119 (2023).
